“I have confidence in our leadership team to take the business forward.”
Rate 1 – 5.

This question pops up in most engagement surveys! It is one of the most crucial lead indicators in any business because senior leadership or executive teams influence much of their teams’ and the organisation’s achievements.

SLTs and ETs:

  • Set the tone for organisational culture;
  • Play a big part in creating direction and focus for the future;
  • Impact what the business prioritises and invests in and;
  • Hugely influence the employee experience;
  • Impact the customer experience

Like other teams, leadership teams that invest time in their development make a real and positive difference. Lead teams have a greater chance of working to their full potential if they take the time to:

  • Reflect on their performance, their achievements and challenges;
  • Align and plan around shared purpose and goals (assuming “enterprise” rather than “functional” leader role);
  • Consider how they draw on diverse skills in the team to be their best;
  • Create a high-trust team Culture (Values and Behaviours) to collaborate;
  • Have a robust growth plan for their teams.

The new year is a good time to do this reflection and set up a plan to keep growing.

Reflection and planning mean more than a one-day workshop. Leadership teams need to take ownership of their work as a TEAM to build in the time, practices, rhythms and disciplines that will help ensure trust and confidence in their ability to lead the organisation in today’s dynamic environment.
