What is psychological safety in the workplace?

What is Psychological Safety?

It’s a confidence and belief in a team, culture, or organisation that one can share your ideas, speak freely and openly, and not be ridiculed or experience negative consequence as a result.

Especially in today’s knowledge-based economy where new and fresh perspectives and ideas are key to success, psychological safety counts. Not only will team performance stand out but individuals will be more engaged and empowered, in the knowledge that their contribution is valued.

When employees experience Psychological Safety at work, they:
–       Feel appreciated & respected.
–       See value in their work and ideas.
–       Discover unique skills, & qualities that they can bring to the team.
–       Feel free to speak up and challenge.
–       Know that every voice matters.
–       Feel comfortable asking for help when they need it.

Psychological Safety promotes equity and inclusion. It celebrates diversity, creates a place where everyone can contribute meaningfully, a positive culture where great things happen.

If you would like to discover more about creating a team, with a solid foundation of trust and psychological safety, connect with us.
